Here are a few highlights from October at the Conseil scolaire du Nord-Ouest’s Francophone school in Grande Prairie.
From October 2 to 4, Grade 10 students in the Leadership 15 course completed their first weekend workshop at Camp Tamarack. This immersive experience, run by Francophonie jeunesse de l’Alberta, the province’s Francophone youth organization, helped students build leadership skills while forging meaningful connections. This unique opportunity, available to students in Francophone schools, sparked great enthusiasm and pride among these young leaders.
On October 19, students in Grades 7 to 9 took part in the Forum français, a regional gathering filled with activities and discoveries in French. A musical performance brought the day to a memorable close.
Two days later, the school welcomed students from Lethbridge Polytechnic, who led hands-on workshops in French on the technical skills involved in the skilled trades, technology and natural resources. With great enthusiasm, students used a variety of tools to build their own creations, and the Grade 2 class even made their own keychains!
These kinds of opportunities and experiences enrich students’ learning while helping them build a strong Francophone identity!
