Grande Prairie charge male for trafficking after firearms-related complaint

On August 27, 2026, at approximately 12:26 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP received a complaint reporting a male in possession of a handgun in the parking lot of the Eastlink Center. Police promptly attended the area and located the male sitting in a vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle, police determined the “handgun” was a lighter resembling a real handgun.

Police also seized approximately 423 grams of methamphetamine, 20 grams of cocaine, 1 gram of fentanyl, and items consistent with drug trafficking.

1 gram of fentanyl

Multiple items relating to drug trafficking

A 53 year-old-male of Grande Prairie, has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine. He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on Sept. 16, 2026. The charge has not been proven in court.
